2009 NFL Draft Prospect Matthew Stafford
Wednesday November 19, 2008

Greatness has been predicted for Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford since coming out of Highland Park High School (Dallas) in 2006. And it appears he is on track to potentially fulfill those expectations since he is considered by many to be one of the top talents in the 2009 NFL Draft. So we decided to make him the subject of our next pictorial profile.
Stafford is an attractive prospect because of the strength of his arm. He simply has a cannon, and that's something you just can't teach. He has struggled at times throughout his career with his accuracy and decision-making, but improved on both significantly during his junior season. He still needs to work on his footwork somewhat, though, as he tends to get "happy feet" from time to time.
Take the pictorial tour of his college career...

McNabb Was Unaware Teams Could Tie
Monday November 17, 2008

Who could be surprised that the league's first tie game in six years would involve the
Cincinnati Bengals... right? I mean, these guys have had just about everything go wrong this year that could. So something like a 13-13 tie is almost expected at this point, especially when you take into consideration the dubious history of the Bengals. What was unexpected, though, was the reaction to the finish of the contest by
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback
Donovan McNabb, who apparently was unaware that regular-season NFL games are limited to a single overtime.
During his post game press conference, McNabb was asked his thoughts on finishing in a tie, and he answered by saying he didn't even know you could have a tie in the NFL.
Seriously.
You can see the video here.
It just amazes me that a star NFL quarterback could be unaware of the league's overtime rules, but this basic aspect that most football fans pick up by the age of 12 apparently had somehow eluded McNabb over his entire 10-year career. Think of the implications this could have had on the Eagles' final drive of the game if McNabb, who's supposed to be running the offense, was under the impression that he would get another shot in yet another overtime period should his defense hold as the extra period expired. Perhaps you play a little more conservative at that point rather than with the desperation one would expect from a team facing its final chance at a win.
Whether or not McNabb's ignorance on the subject affected the outcome of this game, it's inexcusable that someone in his position wasn't fully aware that he was in a do-or-tie situation.

Get Your Own Damn Beer, I'm Watching the Game
Friday November 14, 2008

At About Football, we offer a bare-bones look at
the game for beginners, but Holly Robinson Peete, wife of former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, takes it one step further by delving into a more detailed description of the game without overwhelming the inexperienced fan. Aimed at the female fan, "Get Your Own Damn Beer, Im Watching the Game" takes the confusion out of the game by breaking it down into an easy-to-understand guide that is beneficial to men and women alike. Should make for a fantastic, inexpensive gift for anyone who would like to get into the game!

Help From the Waiver Wire
Thursday November 13, 2008
So your fantasy football team has been ravaged by injuries or you simply have guys who aren't living up to your expectations. As your fantasy league heads into the stretch run and you battle for playoff contention, you may need to shore up a weakness here and there on your roster. So where do you look for help? Believe it of not, there are probably still free agents available that are yours for the taking.
Here's a list of guys that we feel could produce some decent fantasy numbers over the second half of the season:
Quarterback
Joe Flacco, Baltimore - Has posted six touchdowns (5 passing, 1 rushing) over the last three weeks.
Tyler Thigpen, Kansas City - Has thrown six touchdown passes over the last three weeks, and has seven scores in four weeks. He also faces some weak pass defenses in the approaching weeks.
Running Back
BenJarvus Green-Ellis, New England - Has become the feature back in New England, and scored in each of their last four games.
Ricky Williams, Miami - Had a breakout game against the Seahawks in week 10, and should start to get a few more carries.
Wide Receiver
Mark Bradley, Kansas City - A recent addition to the roster, Bradley has clicked with new starting quarterback Tyler Thigpen over the last three weeks, and has scored twice in that time.
Koren Robinson, Seattle - Is becoming more of a focal point in the Seahawks offense, and should be getting starting QB Matt Hasselbeck back soon.
Michael Jenkins, Atlanta - Rookie QB Matt Ryan seems to get better each week and the Falcons are playing some weak pass defenses over the second half. Jenkins' numbers have gradually increased as the season has progressed.
Tight End
Kevin Boss, NY Giants - Recorded a season high of 69 yards in his last game and has scored in three straight.
Dustin Keller, NY Jets - The Rookie recorded more than 100 yards and a TD in his last game. Brett Favre likes to look to his tight ends, and it appears he is gaining some confidence in Keller.
